Various Types Of Welding Fittings And Benefits Of Fittings
Types of welding fittings according to consumer needs, including:
Elbows
This type of fitting is also known as ell. This elbow fitting has a function like an elbow that can be moved in another direction. Elbow fittings have another function, namely to make the water flow branched. In a pipe installation, you may be familiar with pipe installations that change direction.
You can use Las elbow fittings which have 2 sizes that are often used, namely 45 & 90 degrees. However, other sizes can still be obtained if you need.
As for how to connect it, especially from PVC type materials, you can use glue or thread. However, for this type of iron and galvanized welding fittings, the connection method used is thread and welding.
Tee Y
The type of pipe welding fittings on this one is to connect several pipe lines at once that go in one direction only or from several pipes that are divided into one pipe at the mouth.
Both Tee and Wye both come with one input with two outputs or with two outputs and one input.
Both come with a magnitude of 45 degrees and 90 degrees. If you ask where is the difference between Tee and Wye, the difference is in the angle size and texture.
The Welding Tee Fitting uses a smooth texture with a flow direction that should be towards the installation flow. While on the Tee the available angles are 45 and 90 degrees which are very clear.
In addition to the two types above, there are also cross types that come with more inputs and outputs. This type has one input with as many as 3 outputs or with three inputs that lead to only one input. The angle of intersection is 90 degrees.
Couplings and Unions
Couplings and unions are quite varied types of welding fittings. Yes, this type of fitting is available in various sizes depending on the pipe installation model.
Its function is to make a connection between two pipes, so it is natural to call it a coupling.
The model is usually in a short design. The slight difference between a coupling and a union is that in a semi-permanent coupling, the installation is carried out where the connection is made by welding or by using nuts. It's different with the union, which is deliberately made to be easily removed in the connection section.
Caps & Plugs
Both materials function is the same. However, the method of installation is different. Caps are parts of welding fittings whose function is to close the ends of the pipes so that water no longer flows. To glue it, you can use a welding method or stick it on the main pipe.
However, for this type of plug, the function is the same to close the end of the pipe but by installing a stopper first at the end. In terms of the practicality of the shape, caps are more concise but the function is the same.
Compression
There are three parts to this welding fitting, namely the gasket ring or what is called the ferrule, nut and body. It is called compression because the technique is to apply pressure to make the connection stronger. Typically, this type of compression is used for housing as well as for industry.
Valves
Some people insert valves as part of welding fittings, but some others classify valves as a special material. Its function is as a flow controller in a system. There are several categories of valves, namely ball valves, globe valves, gate valves and butterfly valves.
Careful selection of valve material is very important. You can adjust to the size and daily needs. Some of the materials used for fittings are steel, brass, copper, PVC, galvanized, and so on.
